Seattle CoderDojo teaches kids to code 32 weekends per year and then some. Parents must accompany the kids, so they’re equally engaged! Find them on Facebook.

Seattle AmeriCorps Collaborative (SAC) works to ensure that every AmeriCorps member’s year of service is as fulfilling and impactful as possible.  Most fulltime volunteers are actually AmeriCorps members, even Jesuit Volunteer Corp members.  SAC is planning their second annual career fair right now!  After that is their second annual retreat.  Urban Sparks is working hard to help them build a robust organization so together we can make Seattle a model city supporting voluntary service.

SAC, Tableau, and Urban Sparks are developing an online housing search tool to connect AmeriCorps-supportive landlords with AmeriCorps tenants.  It’s a wonderful way to stretch AmeriCorps stipends and give landlords great tenants.  Rental Housing Association of WA published our outreach article and brought landlords calling.  We’re scrambling now!

Niemen Taber Architects priced a housing-only Service House for us for co-development.  It’s great to have parallel paths to housing for full-time service volunteers.
